The Frills Of Being a Yuppie

You might have often heard older people call those young adults who are working as “Yuppies.” It’s actually a slang term I am not really sure if it was the Americans who first tried it out but if it need to be defined yuppies just means Young Professionals.

From the age of 21 to around 35, this age group usually just gets to graduate from university and starts their life working on their own. They start to live on their own and leave their homes to be independent working human beings and just want to taste life as raw as it is. We all have been in this stage, and you must agree with me that this age was the most fun and educational times of our life. Not only did we get to learn a lot about the real world, we also got to know more about who we are and how we are with other people in our lives.

Relationships with friends, family and loved ones tend to be a learning experience. May it be a lasting romance or just a flight of fancy. Each event has made you who you are today in more ways than you can understand.

A lot of older people misunderstand the being yuppie part as too much of that free spirit. This may be true with some individuals especially those who wants to live their life on the wilder side. Some yuppies take their status and take everything for granted. This should be the time of your life, but you don’t need to hurt anyone in the process nor do you need to embarrass yourself. Being a yuppie is not like being on spring break. Yes you get to have the freedom of doing what you can and what you want, but you need to understand that there are certain rules that needs to be met and obligations and responsibilities that need to be faced.

The good part of being a yuppie is that you can be independent in choosing how your life will lead to. No need to follow anyone else’s advised or asks for your parent’s or family’s opinion. You get to face reality on your own, and speaking from experience it is one thing that is the most exciting part wherein you get to learn a lot about the facts of life. When you are a yuppie you get to open your eyes to the world, and what you saw as rainbows and roses before you will see as black and white now. This may seem like a disappointment for some or an eye opener but either way it sure is a step to a lot of lessons learned.

The yuppie days are so much fun, this is when you get to work on what you want and be able to go places when you want to. There may be problems along the way, built with the kind of disposition in life as a yuppie, you enjoy with the complications because you want to stand up and learn. Giving up will never be a choice for you and getting the chance to be able to stand up when you fall just makes you a better human being overall.

When you get older, you realize that this was the most cherished moments of your life and probably might wish to have more of it or have it all over again. If it were that simple to be a yuppie forever then we won’t end up with hopes and wishful thinking.

But if you really think about it, everyone else will be outgrowing this stage and you will be stuck on this era forever? That would be scary-crazy and I wouldn’t want that on anyone. Getting older is never a bad sign; it just means you’re getting wiser and more mature by the day. It’s fun to be a yuppie, do everything while you still can, see the world, love what you do, find that perfect love and build friendships. This is how a yuppie should be, with an open heart and mind and a strong one at that.
