“When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.” If I remember it right, that’s actually a boy band song from the late 90’s. A hip cool song that got stuck in my head when I was listening to the radio, out of the blue it dawned on me how that particular line had so much truth, deeper than you could even fathom while singing it. Ironically, we get a lot of life altering moments through songs and lyrics of songs that makes us stop and think that yes, this is what should be done.
I would always remember that giving up is not an option. Never was, never will be and never should be one of the choices to choose from. We all know that life is full of bumps and bruises, but if we choose to give up, what then? I believe we are given all this challenges so that we become who we are. If we choose to ignore this, then we probably remain timid, scared and in my point pathetically embarrassing. Am I too harsh to even say so? For me, that is only truth – Reality to be exact. If you really think about it, there are more people who are with deeper issues in life. From alcoholism, drugs, loneliness, heartbreak and financial constraints these are the epitome of what can break a human. That is why the head is higher than the heart so that you can use it to guide your heart on how to feel. I too believe that God never gives us challenges we can not face. I’ve read a book a couple of months ago and it clearly said not quoted though and in my own words, all these road bumps that we have, God has walked through it, so He’s giving these problems to us because He is confident that we can overcome it. He will never give us a challenge we cannot carry. He will not give us a burden if he knows we cannot handle. That is why I too am confident that whatever issues I may have had in the past, present or future I can get through this and so can you.
I understand that there are people who opt in giving up rather than moving on. What then? Don’t you think that makes you a coward? How would you know your strength and your capabilities as a person if you don’t even try? So what if you fail? That surely doesn’t make you a lesser man. As we should 
have learned, when you fall and cannot get back up, kneel and pray and ask Him for guidance. These challenges are His way to let you come back to Him and not forsake him. In times that you think that you can not handle it anymore, surrender to him and for sure you will know strength like you never had. This is the strength from within, the soul and the spirit. More than any physical strength, it is your faith that gives you this much and makes you surpass whatever trials there is. There is no giving up. That is only a coward’s way out, and if you are not one, then all you need is to do whatever you can to right what is wrong, and leave the rest to Him.
There is nothing stronger than faith in Him. If you have that in you then you are sure to be powerful to defeat any hurdles that may come. And if you were beaten and left bruised by life, learn from it, grow and share it with other people. For sure, life will be more beautiful for you and bottom line, you can be a tough cookie not only when there is a need but for other people who need it too. ☺
